Add a Touch of Glamour to Your Bathroom

Is your bathroom practical but boring? Why not add a touch of glamour to the one room in the house where you can be on your own and really relax and unwind. If you have to share your bathroom with the rest of the family you will need to hide any clutter such as the kid’s bath toys.
Store them safely away and only get them out when the children are actually having a bath.
Add some colour
As most bathroom suites tend to be white these days, injecting colour is an easy way of creating a new, glamorous look and feel to your bathroom. This can be done by simply painting the walls, a fresh coat of paint can completely transform the space and a striking feature wall could make your bathroom look more stylish. Replacing the tiles with some that are more modern and luxurious looking is another brilliant way to make your bathroom exude elegance and glamour.
Under floor heating
What could be more luxurious than under floor heating in your bathroom? No more cold tiles to step on to when getting out of the bath.....heaven! It is also a very practical and efficient way to warm your bathroom.
Lighting
Lighting does need to be practical and include overhead and task lighting but that doesn’t mean that you can’t add real touch of glamour with your choice of lights. Ornate wall sconces either side of your bathroom mirror can be a real eye-catching feature as well as giving plenty of light for applying make-up.
Towels
Nothing adds a touch of glamour to a bathroom more than beautiful, big, warm and fluffy towels. A single plain colour works best when trying to achieve a sense of luxury as a mixture of colours or designs can create a messy uncoordinated look. Display the towels on a heated towel rail or perhaps roll the towels and stack them onto shelves.
Bathmats/blinds/shower curtains
There are many attractive, matching bathmats and shower curtains available these days and they come in a variety of patterns, colours and designs. You can also choose a matching or co-ordinating window blind to maintain an overall impression of harmony.
Containers
Use containers that are gorgeous and stylish to store the numerous things we need to have to hand in our bathrooms such as shampoo, shower gels and toothpaste. Use colourful glass jars or beautiful pots to store essential items such as cotton buds and make up remover pads. Arrange them so that they create an ornamental, attractive display on a shelf or a windowsill.
Candles
Candles are a must for adding luxury to the bathroom and there is nothing more relaxing than lighting a scented candle, lying back and having a long soak in the bath..... Perfect after a long stressful day!
Ornaments
To retain a feeling of elegance you do not want a clutter of mismatched ornaments but a carefully selected, small, statement item or sculpture could add a touch of glamour to any bathroom.
Plants
There are many houseplants that thrive in a bathroom because of its typically tropical conditions of low light, warmth, and humidity. For low light bathrooms, it’s best to choose plants such as aloe vera, bamboo, orchids or boston ferns. For bright and sunny bathrooms why not go for gardenias or asparagus ferns. Spider plants are an excellent choice for any bathroom and have the added advantage of being very low maintenance.
