We’re Jumping for Joy at Arrival of Futurist Hare

We’re excited to announce that a hare sculpture – which sold for £4,400 at auction, in aid of Norfolk’s Break charity – is now on display at our Norwich store.
The seven-foot tall hare – named Futurist-Hare - was part of a fifty-strong GoGoHares sculpture trail in summer 2018, celebrating the 50th year of Break, which supports vulnerable children.
Bought at auction by Nikki and Jason Waterman in October 2018 – owners of Catton Old Hall Guest House – the model encapsulates a vision of future Norwich, combining artworks of urban farming, a green city and new ways of travelling. The piece was created by local artist, Rebecca Pymar and sponsored by planning consultancy, Lanpro.
Fetching the sum of £4,400, the piece contributed to a grand total of £409,600 raised for the charity. The money will help to provide vulnerable children and young adults across East Anglia.
Talking about the hare, Liam Corcoran, our Norwich manager said: “Nikki and Jason were incredibly generous in buying this piece – and as a client of Easy Bathrooms, I asked them if we could loan the hare for a few weeks.
“As most of the hares will now be in private residence, we feel incredibly honoured that we’re able to display Futurist Hare in our store. He will be a resident at our showroom until the 19th March – and we encourage anyone to come and see him if they get the chance.”
The decorated fibre glass creatures follow in the footsteps of elephants, gorillas and most recently dragons, which raised £369,500 in 2015.
If you want to come and have a look, our Norwich store is located on Barker Street, NR2 4TQ, between the Halfords roundabout and Go Outdoors. But hurry, Futurist-Hare won’t be there forever!
