Creating a Country Style Bathroom

You may not live in a country cottage with roses around the front door and you don’t have the low ceilings, exposed beams and alcoves that usually come with a country cottage bathroom but there is no reason why you can’t add a touch of rural, cosy charm to your bathroom, even if you do live in a modern apartment in the heart of the city.

Baths
If you love freestanding baths then this is the ideal choice for a cottage bathroom and looks especially good if you have the space to showcase it in the centre of the room. Add traditional styled taps and you have taken the first steps to creating the bathroom you desire. If you don’t have the space for a freestanding bath, why not replace your existing bath panels with wooden ones to give your bathroom that natural country feel.

Basins
Pedestal sinks, once thought old-fashioned, can be nicely incorporated into your country bathroom, or if you prefer, floor standing or wall mounted vanity units are readily available in traditional styles. Alternatively, you could up-cycle an old chest of drawers or cupboard and add a counter top basin, adding other furniture or accessories to complete the look.

Furniture
Open storage cabinets are a great idea in the bathroom. You can display practical but decorative items such as perfumes, fancy soaps, toiletries and candles in woven or wicker storage drawers or baskets. Why not add a matching chair to complete the look?

Walls and Floors
Colour is of course always a matter of choice, but in a country style bathroom many people opt for neutral colours which are then shown off to perfection by a wooden effect floor. Porcelain tiles that have the appearance of wooden floor boards are an ideal choice as they are more practical, durable and easier to clean than real wood or laminate flooring.

If you like bold colours, then go ahead and tile or paint your walls in a vivid colour. You can always tone it down by having neutral coloured floor tiles and white, neutral or pastel towels and accessories.

Accessories
No room is complete without the finishing touches and this is certainly true in a cottage-style bathroom. Towels, bathmats, shower curtains, blinds, ornaments and accessories are the perfect way to really bring your country bathroom to life. Add a vase of flowers, a plant or perhaps a nicely shaped piece of bark or wood on the windowsill to bring in a touch of the outdoors.

Wooden coat pegs are ideal for hanging towels or bathrobes on and a large mirror, or perhaps a wooden shelf displaying antique jugs and vases can create an eye catching focal point, without taking up any space.

Whatever you decide to do, Easy Bathrooms have an extensive range of baths, basins, furniture and accessories that will look wonderful in any country style bathroom. We can offer advice with the planning and installation of your bathroom so why not come along and see us at one of our showroom?
