In-Store Tile Matching Service Explained
We often have customers come into store wanting to find a single replacement tile (or maybe a handful of them) so they don’t need to retile the entire room. It’s a common issue, and it’s why our tile matching service is so handy. Below, you can find out more about how the service works and what you need to bring with you.
What Is Our In-Store Tile Matching Service?
Our tile matching service really does what it says: you bring in a tile that you want to replace, even if it’s chipped, cracked or discontinued, and a member of our team will find as close a replacement as possible. It’s a free service and can save you hours of trawling online and ordering free samples that aren’t even close to a match.
The service is ideal if you’re making small repairs, extending your bathroom or kitchen or partially retiling a space. In all of these scenarios, you don’t want to replace an entire wall or floor of tiles, but you do need the new tiles to blend in without looking obviously different.
It’s not always an easy task (or one we can always achieve, particularly when tiles are highly patterned or textured), but our team will give it a good go.
How Does Tile Matching Work?
The process is easy, and you don’t need an appointment. Just pop into your local Easy Bathrooms showroom during its opening hours.
-
Bring in a tile sample or a photo. A physical tile is always going to mean a closer match, but we also understand that some people don’t want to pry a tile off the wall to bring it in. If you only have a photo, ensure it’s clean and well-lit.
-
Our team will compare your tile to those we have in store. We’ll hold your sample against our current range, checking the colour, finish, size and pattern in bright lighting to ensure we get as close a match as possible.
-
We give you a couple of options to take away. If we stock an exact match, we’ll give you this option to take away and compare at home. If your original tile has been discontinued or we don’t have an exact match, we’ll give you a couple of alternatives to take away with you so you can choose the closest one.
Why Match Tiles In-Store Rather Than Buying Online?
It’s much easier to try and match a tile in person, where you can physically hold it up against similar tiles to really compare. When doing this online, the colour can be off (for instance, what looks blue in the photo actually has a green tinge in real life), but also the texture can be impossible to compare.
Even when you take an image on your phone and put it into an AI tool to find a match, the lighting and camera settings could make the tile look quite different in the photo.
Seeing the tiles in person next to your existing sample removes the guesswork and means you’re more likely to find a good match.
What To Bring With You
To help us find the best possible tile match, we ask you to bring:
-
A spare tile OR a clear photo, taken in natural daylight
-
Measurements of the area you’re covering
-
How many tiles you will need.
Where To Find The Service
